Home Sweet Home

Last Sunday I took the kids and headed to Nevada. As we crossed the state line we sang "Home means Nevada", something I've done since I moved to Utah. Bailee loves it, of course. There is something about driving accross that desert, the wide open spaces of "nothing". It just feels like home, smells like home, looks like home. It was a pretty easy drive, the kids both did awesome. Unfortunately, we brought an unwelcome guest with us. Some kind of 24 hour bug. :( Hopefully that won't visit us again anytime soon.

Monday afternoon Bailee was feeling well enough to ride her horse and 4 wheeler. She absolutely LOVES doing both of those things, especially if she's with Grampy. What Bailee does not love, however, is sharring these things (including Grampy) with her brother. In all that we've been through the past 15 months, this is the first she's been really jealous of Maddox.

It was fun to be 'home' for Homecoming. I hadn't been there since my own Sr. year. 10 years! I was feeling my age as I saw all of the 'babies' I used to babysit and pre-schoolers I taught playing highschool ball. Crazy. My 'baby' sister is a Sr. this year. She was 7 when I graduated! But it was fun to see that some of the traditions are the same, somethings never change. Brought back a lot of memories. Some I laughed at, some made me wish for that time back, many were just a reminder of how glad I am to be where I'm at now.

It's crazy how things do change though. I remember thinking our friends would always stay close, we'd always see each other and keep in touch. It really truly has not happened. And even when I do see these friends it's kind of weird. We are at such different places in life now. Everything we did share and have in common is gone now. It's not like we can just get together and 'hang' out now. We've got spouses, children, lives outside of PVHS. Plus with Blogs and Facebook, the questions we'd normally ask and talk about have already been answered. Maybe it's just me. It's just way different than I thought it would be. Oddly enough, it's exactly as our parents and teachers said it would be.

We got home to PG last night and I'm so glad to be here. Home Sweet Home is where my family is. We were apart for a week, and while we enjoyed our time in NV, I'm glad to be back here, together again.
